What to dry, and what not to dry? Here’s a look at 5 things that are best left out of your Whirlpool dryer.

Being dry is important.
No matter if it&rsquo;s your laundry, a newly painted bench, or your clothes after getting off a water ride when you still have a whole day left at the amusement park, staying dry is quite important.
And that&rsquo;s why dryers are important. And no matter which Whirlpool dryer you have at home -- Maybe you just purchased Whirlpool&rsquo;s Front Load Electric Dryer &ndash; there are some things you should always remember not to put in your dryer.
We&rsquo;re looking at you Robby: You know why you lost your dryer privileges. Don&rsquo;t be like Robby. Instead, learn from this practical list and keep your dryer happy for years to come.
1. Gum
Gum is great for many things, like chewing, blowing bubbles, or sticking under tables and chairs at the movie theater. It is not great for clothes that are going through the laundry.
It&rsquo;s best practice to go through each pocket of every article of clothing before putting them in the washer or dryer. (Why? Then you won&rsquo;t pull out your FAVORITE PAIR OF PANTS ROBBY, THEY WERE MY FAVORITE PAIR OF PANTS, only to find out that SOMEONE left a pack of gum in them and now that gum has melted and permanently joined, stained, and become one with what used to be your favorite pair of pants.)
2. Sandy things
So, you just returned from a wonderful trip to the beach, and now you have a whole bunch of sandy beach towels. Of course, it just makes sense to throw them in the dryer to shake the extra sand out. Right? Riiiight?
WRONG ROBBY. Sand can really mess up your dryer, so don&rsquo;t do that. No sand in the dryer. None. It can actually get trapped in the inner workings of the dryer, which can do damage to your machine. We don&rsquo;t want that, and you don&rsquo;t want that either.
Also, for a bonus tip: Don&rsquo;t put bathing suits in your Whirlpool dryer either: It will stretch out the fibers. You&rsquo;re welcome.
3. Brassieres
Bras and the heat of the dryer just don&rsquo;t play well together. They aren&rsquo;t friends, they don&rsquo;t call each other back, they don&rsquo;t share LEGOs, they don&rsquo;t play in the sand box, and they totally don&rsquo;t eat at the same lunch table.
If you want to keep buying bras over and over again, sure, throw them in the dryer. If not, stick with hang drying them, which will work toward keeping them alive as long as possible.
4. Rubber-backed bath mats
While they may be great to dry your feet on when you get out of the shower &ndash; and keep you from falling and slipping on the bathroom floor &ndash; rubber-backed bath mats are best left to dry on their own, instead of placing them inside your Whirlpool dryer.
We&rsquo;ve heard some stories. And while they weren&rsquo;t exactly &ldquo;Goosebumps&rdquo; levels of horror, we still wouldn&rsquo;t recommend seeing what happens if you put a bath mat in the dryer.
5. Animals

Come on now. Yes, while this may come as a surprise to some people, but you really shouldn&rsquo;t put your pets in the dryer. No, not even if they are wet, Robby. Dry them off with a towel. Anything but putting them in the dryer.
Now, the internet is mixed on whether it is OK to put plush, stuffed animals in the dryer. Some places say yes, but some say no. Let&rsquo;s just say we wouldn&rsquo;t trust our personal collection of stuffed animals in there. Better safe than sorry when it comes to Mr. Fluffy.

Skip the pricey repair company and follow these handy steps to replace your dryer belt and get your Whirlpool back up and running.

<h4>How to Replace a Dryer Belt on a Whirlpool Dryer</h4>

Repairing your clothes dryer might seem like a tall order for those of us who are less mechanically savvy, but there are some repairs you can do easily without the help of a professional. A worn-out dryer belt is one of the most common problems that your Whirlpool dryer will face, and luckily, they can be easily replaced, even by mechanical novices. With only a few simple tools, you can replace your machine’s dryer belt right at home. Follow these steps and you’ll have your Whirlpool back up and running in no time. 

<h4>When to replace a dryer belt</h4>

There are a few telltale signs that your Whirlpool is in need of a new belt. One of the first things you’ll notice is unexplained noises during drying cycles. If your dryer is making unusual squeaking or thumping sounds, your dryer belt is probably wearing thin. If you can, it’s best for your dryer’s longevity to replace the belt before it actually breaks. If the belt does break, you’ll probably notice right away. The dryer will likely stop turning even when you can hear the motor running, shut down before clothes are dry, or even refuse to turn on altogether. These issues could point to other electrical issues with the machine, but the most common source is a broken dryer belt.

<h4>What you’ll need</h4>

•	5/16th nut driver or socket.
•	 Phillips screwdriver
•	 Putty knife or flathead screwdriver
•	 Container for screws

<h4>How to replace a dryer belt</h4>

Luckily, a broken dryer belt is a relatively easy fix. You can get new belts online and at most home appliance stores. Double check the belt dimensions required by your Whirlpool model and pick one up, then follow these steps to fix it yourself.

1.	First, make sure the dryer is off and disconnected from all power sources. Move the machine away from the wall and unplug it from the outlet.

2.	Remove the lint filter on top of the dryer. The filter is on top right-hand corner of most Whirlpool machines. Two small screws should be visible where the filter used to be. Remove them and put both your container for safekeeping.

3.	Next, take your putty knife and slide it into the groove at the front of the dryer, separating the top of the machine from the body. Pop to top of the dryer up on both sides, so it can be flipped out of the way.

4.	Remove the front of the machine by undoing two hex-head bolts in the top corners of the front panel with your nut driver. Be ready to support the drum, which should come out with the front panel. You might want to have an extra set of hands or something to prop the drum up on while you work.

5.	The belt should be visible now. If it’s already broken, just remove it from the drum, but if it’s still attached, you may have to cut it off with a utility knife.

6.	The new belt can now be slipped onto the drum. The grooved side should be facing inward toward the drum, and the flat side should be facing out. Then, you’ll have to loop the belt under the tensioner pulley and around the motor pulley to pull it taut.

7.	You’re now free to reassemble the dryer. Fit the drum into the rim of the front cabinet panel and slide it back into the machine, replacing the two hex-head bolts that secure it. Swing the top back down and push until it locks back into place, then replace the screws and lint trap. When you plug your dryer back in, it should be all set to dry a load of laundry.
